Assessment of Academic AdvisingDuring 2000-2001, USC Lancaster assessed its advisement efforts using a student survey, which is attached. This survey consisted of both quantitative and narrative responses to questions on the survey form (PDF) .
Also during 2000-2001, as part of the ongoing activities of the campus to improve advising, USC Lancaster continued a series of advising workshops for faculty, led by the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs and the Director of Enrollment Management. The workshops focused on instructing faculty on consistency and care in planning student schedules, reminders about the need to address General Education requirements, reminders to take into account student’s test scores, educational background, and logistical concerns when advising students about their academic schedules, and best practices recommendations for doing follow-up on student progress. The last workshop was held on June 6, 2001, prior to the first Orientation session for this coming year’s new students.
