Pre-nursing lower division

Students take core general education classes, such as English, history, math, and basic science and nursing courses that focus on health and wellness, the history of nursing, nutrition and pathophysiology.

A prescribed number of pre-nursing lower division courses must be completed before students can apply to upper division. Acceptance into the lower division program does not guarantee a student will progress to the upper division level. The process is competitive and based on progression GPA and interview/essay.

Upper division

Students combine clinical hours in a variety of settings with classroom instruction and work in the college's patient simulation lab. Students must attend school full-time and take classes in the sequence offered.

Progression to Upper Division

Admission to the baccalaureate degree in nursing major does not guarantee admission to the upper division. Progression is competitive, based on progression GPA and interview/essay. Progression to upper division is limited to a set number of qualified students based on available clinical faculty and placement sites.

As a USC preceptor, you will share your knowledge and expertise by educating Nurse Practitioner students and provide learning opportunities within your current practice.
