One of few programs of its kind in the country, cardiovascular technology is an interdisciplinary program of study focusing on the natural sciences, combined with outstanding academic and health care resources and research facilities.
What to Expect
You will learn from distinguished faculty members who consistently rank among the finest in the world for their outstanding teaching and research efforts. You will utilize your study of anatomy, human physiology, organic chemistry and physics to develop the skills necessary to assist physicians in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of patients.
This innovative three-year program is followed by a hands-on clinical internship at an accredited hospital where you will receive specific training in one or more areas of emphasis within cardiovascular diagnostics: invasive, noninvasive and vascular specialties.
B B.S. in Cardiovascular Technology
The Cardiovascular Technology Program is affiliated with a groeing number of clinical sites, including the Claude W. Smith, M.D., School of Cardiovascular Technology at MUSC Health in Columbia and the Harry T. Harper Jr., M.D., School of Cardiac and Vascular Technology at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, for the internship portion of the degree. The cardiovascular technology program is in the College of Arts and Sciences.
